It’s Wednesday again and I’m on the hook to deliver the next issue of this newsletter. I’ve failed to deliver it consistently for a while, but I’m changing that this year. Unfortunately, the year is off to a rough start for me. Late last year, I had to call the suicide hotline for my wife. It’s something I’ve been ashamed to talk about. But I’ve decided that it’s important enough to share. https://zellwk.com/articles/suicide-hotline/ This is important to share because this sort of experience is closer to heart to what I’m creating in next version of Magical Dev School. I’m not saying we should try to lift people out of undesirable situations. What I’m saying is we all have to go through lousy situations ourselves — and we can support each other as we do. The words I’ve drafted for the Magical Dev School community are as follows: I’ve yet to build the next version of the site because, well, lots of reasons. But I’m going to take my time and ensure I don't move fast and break things. If you’re interested in finding out more or want to offer some help, give me a ping. Convincing doesn’t workInterestingly, this seems like an apt moment to fish out an article from my drafts about how trying to convince someone else is simply a futile attempt. https://zellwk.com/articles/convincing-doesnt-work/ I’ll let you sit with this for a bit. |

This is a great course to take if you have been wondering: How to use the best parts of Tailwind How to use the best parts of CSS How to combine the strengths of both Tailwind and CSS (While avoiding the HTML bloat that usually comes with Tailwind classes) This is also a great course to take if you’ve been yearning for a great system to...
This week I’d like to take a break from talking about code and Splendid Labz — and instead focus on some tooling and ergonomics. If you’ve been hanging out with me for some time, you would have known that I have a Moonlander keyboard. I’m pretty happy with it because it mitigated my carpal tunnel problems for a long long time. (Here’s why it works). Preventing/reducing carpal tunnel problems is important for us developers because, well, we use our hands to work. If we get carpal tunnel, how...
Hey , This is probably one of the most ironic messages I’m gonna send because I’ve just ranted about breaking changes last week. But I gotta tell you about these breaking changes in advance so you can ease into the new library as much as possible — although it’ll probably take some time before I get the documentations out. (Life is tough, but I’m working on all the various fronts I can as we speak). There are two major breaking changes coming with the upcoming version of Splendid Labz....
